Ada City Council delays action on annexation request

Ada —

A mistake in a legal notice prompted the Ada City Council to postpone a hearing Tuesday on an annexation request for land along Stonecipher Boulevard.

The council is considering whether to annex four parcels of land on the south side of Stonecipher Boulevard into the city limits. One of those properties belongs to Pontotoc    County resident Nathan Dial, who is waging a long-running battle to have part of his land rezoned from a suburban district to a commercial district.

The city recently published a legal notice saying that the council would host a public hearing on the annexation proposal Tuesday, then decide whether to take action. But the notice contained some inaccurate information, forcing the council to postpone the hearing and delay any action.

The council is expected to take up the issue again on Feb. 19.
