Candidates file for school board seats

Candidates for the boards of education in eight Pontotoc County school districts recently filed their intentions to run for their respective school offices.

Personnel of the Pontotoc County Election Board said the filing period ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Candidates for the board of education in the Pontotoc Technology Center also filed their declarations during the same time period.

The board of education positions at stake will be filled at the annual school election scheduled for Feb. 12, 2013.  If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on April 2, 2013.
