Jessica Matheron

Ada —

Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions...”  Today one of those mansions has a new resident, Jessica (Jessie) E. (Lynn) Matheron. Jessie was born in Beggs, OK, on November 9, 1919 to William Henry Lynn and Della Delilah (Miller) Lynn.  She took her journey to her eternal home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Jessie was 93. She was “born again” at the age of twelve at the First Baptist Church of Wetumka, OK.

Jessica left Oklahoma for California in 1943. There she met and married the love of her life, Lt. Ernest S. Matheron, on December 22, 1945. Jessie and Ernie celebrated 55 years together. They relocated to Phoenix, AZ, in the early 1950s.  There she completed her degree in business from Arizona Business College. She was employed for many years as Office Manager for Haver, Nunn, & Jenson Architectural Company of Phoenix.

On December 18, 1956, Jessica and Ernest adopted the first of their two children, Glory Delilah (Matheron) McCown, and on May 12, 1959, they adopted their second child, Ernest S. Matheron Jr.

Jessica moved to Ada, OK, from Phoenix, AZ, in 1969 and resided here for the next thirty years. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she taught adult ladies Sunday School classes. For health reasons, Jessica has lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the last 13 years in Piedmont, OK. There she was an active member of the First Baptist Church.  Jessie was a woman known for her deep love of God and her never-wavering faith. 

Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Della Lynn; sister, Reba (Lynn) Hoffman; brother, Carl Lynn.

She is survived by her daughter, Glory D. (Matheron) McCown and husband, Randy, of Piedmont, OK; her son, Ernest S. Matheron and wife, Lana, of Ada, OK; grandson Gabriel M. McCown and wife, Andrea, of Piedmont, OK; granddaughter Sara Matheron of Norman, OK; grandson Jacob Matheron of Ada, OK; great-granddaughters Reagan L. McCown, Brianna Gibson; great-grandsons Hunter M. McCown and David Brown Jr.; nephews Ron Waggoner and wife, Jean, Ray Klumb and wif,e Jan, Johnnie Ingram and wif,e Edith, and niece Kathy (Matheron) Penny and husband, Steve; as well as many cousins and friends.

Services will be at Criswell Funeral Home of Ada, OK, on Tuesday, March 19th, at 2:00 PM.  Dr. Randy M. McCown and Rev. Gary Caldwell will officiate.  Burial will be at Swan Hill Cemetery, Ada, OK, with Rev. Jerry Wells officiating.
