Betty Scroggins

FORT WORTH, Texas —      Services for Betty Jewell Scroggins, 86, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Ada, are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Rusty Fuller and the Rev. David Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis.

     The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

     Mrs. Scroggins died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at her daughter’s home.

     She was born Oct. 29, 1926, at Mill Creek to John Ewen and Cornelia Freeman Gale. She graduated from Ada High School. She lived in the Ada area most of her life.

     She married Junior Lee “Doc” Scroggins on Oct. 9, 1948, in Ada, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2004.

     Mrs. Scroggins was a bookkeeper and secretary for C.P. Taylor, M.D., and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Scroggins was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, where she was active with the Victory Sunday School Class.

     Survivors include her daughters, Janet Murray and husband, Paul, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen Farrell and husband, Buz, of Pauls Valley; four grandchildren, Angi Rogers and husband, Kelvin, and Melissa Taylor and husband, Michael, all of Fort Worth, Texas, Kimberly Shippey and fiance’, Patrick Lyons, of Lindsay, and Zechariah Shippey and wife, Erica, of Pauls Valley; a sister, Mary Horton and husband, Ed, of Wiley, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan St. Pierre, Jaclyn, Justin and Janelle Rogers, Evan and Zanni Knight, all of Fort Worth, Texas, Tyler Hopper, Jayce McCoy of Lindsay and Ryder Shippey of Pauls Valley; two great-great-granddaughters, Kaslynn and Suttyn St. Pierre of Fort Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, J. E. Gale and Jimmy T. Gale.

     Bearers will be son-in laws, grandsons and great-grandsons.

     The family says those who wish may make memorials to Trinity Baptist Church, 530 E. Main, Ada, OK 74820, or the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, MO 64105.
