Ginger Fussell

Services for Virginia Lou “Ginger” Fussell, 91, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, with Floyd Kaiser officiating. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Fussell died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in Ada. She was born Dec. 1, 1921, at Royal to Thomas Bunyon and Mary Jane Burton Weatherford.

 She lived most of her life in this area and graduated from Byng High School.

She married Leonard Wade on April 21, 1941, in Ada.  He died Oct. 21, 1948, in Oakland, Calif. She married Bobby Jeff Fussell on Dec. 9, 1950, in Ada. He died Jan. 13, 1996, in Ada. 

Mrs. Fussell was an accounting clerk for Montgomery Ward and later for Rural Electric Co-op, now People’s Electric Co-op, for many years. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Roff and later became a Head Start instructor for the Roff School System at Fitzhugh, where she was known as "Miss Ginger" by her students. She retired from Head Start in 1977. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Joe Medlock, Ada, and Annette and Donald Price, Ada; four grandchildren, Cathy Eaves and her husband, Russell, Ada, Mark Medlock, Ada, Bobby Price and his wife, Vicki, Ada, and Shawn Price, Ada; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Hammonds and her husband, Jim, Muskogee; brother, Wayne Weatherford and his wife, Geri, Willows, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Sue Kelly and Clema Duoto.

Bearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Bobby Price, Shawn Price, Mark Medlock, Donny Price, Wesley Medlock and Kenny Mayfield.
