Floy Jewell Howard

Services for Floy Jewell Howard, 93, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southwest Church of Christ, Floyd Kaiser and Bobby Johns  officiating. Burial follows at the Konawa Cemetery.

Mrs. Howard died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at a local nursing home. She was born May 9, 1918, in Centrahoma to William Henry and Carrie Elizabeth Jackson Brannon.

She and her family moved to Ada in 1923 from Konawa. She attended Willard grade school and graduated from Ada High School. She attended East Central for one year.

She married Virgil Ray Howard on July 4, 1935, in Wewoka. He died Oct. 12, 1989, in Ada.

Mrs. Howard was a sales clerk for Scott’s Department Store, Stevens and S & Q Clothiers for many years. She was the last original member of Southwest Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Ward, Ada; her grandchildren, Karen Martinez, Oklahoma City, Casey Lowry and husband Johnny, Edmond, Richard Howard and wife Camille, Ada, Russell Howard and wife Michelle, Henderson, Nev., and Steve Howard and wife Sue, Orange, Calif.; 12 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Will Brannon; her husband, Virgil Howard; her sons, Jerry Brannon Howard, Kenneth Dee Howard, and Leslie Ray Howard; a grandson, William James Ward; a great-grandson, Nathanial Joseph Martinez; and a sister, Joy Laughlin.
