Bernice Mae Lester

Services for Bernice Mae Lester, 82, Ada, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Harold Ware officiating. Burial follows at Holdenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lester died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1930, at Holdenville to John and Rosena Paters Earley. She attended Holdenville schools. 

She married Troy Lester Oct. 17, 1947, at Wichita, Kan. Mrs. Lester was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Ada for more than 50 years. She was also an active member of Healthy Heart Club.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Troy Lester, of the home; her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Roger Maguire, Fairfield, Ill., and Janet and Ben Barrick, Ada; one son, David Lester and partner Terry of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Brent Maguire, Michelle Ziegler, Jennifer Hawkins, Brad Barrick, Joy Moon, Joel Barrick, Michael Lester and Elizabeth Lester; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Jim and France; and sisters, Sylvia, Betty, Mary and Goldie.

Bearers are Brent Maguire, Brad Barrick, Joel Barrick, Geoff Moon, Zac Hawkins and Alex Ziegler.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; Gideon Memorial Bible Chairman, P.O. Box 1821, Ada, OK 74821; or the Ada First Baptist Church Falls Creek Building Fund, 521 S. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
