Ada track team fares well at Carl Albert meet

Midwest City —

Ada’s Steven Davidson and Colin Earle swept the distance events on the boys side, and the Ada girls squad finished first or second in six events at Tuesday’s Carl Albert Invitational Track Meet.

Davidson won the 1,600 Meters in 4:46, and Earle captured the 3,200 meters for the Cougars, who also got a runner-up finish from Davidson in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:05.

Earl anchored the Ada 1,600-Meter Relay squad to a sixth-place finish, while Chase Bowker and Tryce Prince — who joined Earle and Shane West on the relay — were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 400 Meters.

The Ada girls turned in their best overall performance as a team in years at Carl Albert, with the 1,600-Meter Relay quartet of Jayden Gray, Aaliyah Blakely, Victoria Lotter and Charisma Graham finishing first in a time of 4:24.63 to lead the way. Ada’s sprint relay team of Gray, Graham, Olivia Wells and Addison Rhynes was also second in :52.81, and the 800-Meter Relay (Gray, Blakley, Lotter and Rhynes) finished fifth in 1:56.72.

Graham continued her outstanding invidivual season with a runner-up finish in both the 100 Meters (in :13.56, with Rhynes fourth in :13.85) and 200 Meters (in :26.86), and Lotter was second in the 400 Meters in a time of 1:03.10.

In the field events, Jenna Huling finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4-10, and Blakley was fourth (15-6) and Huling sixth (14-5) in the long jump.

“The girls are getting better each time they run,” Ada girls coach Drake Daniels said. “We are proud of all of their hard work.”

Both Ada squads return to action Saturday at Bishop McGuinness.
