The Roff Tigers overcame a second-half comeback attempt by the Stonewall Longhorns Tuesday night inside the Murphy-Roberts Gymnasium.
Despite a close game throughout, a third period surge by the Longhorns wasn’t enough to make up for missed 3-pointers and turnovers. The Tigers took home a 45-43 win.
“It was a battle the whole time,” said Longhorns head coach Wes Moreland. “We just couldn’t get anything going offensively. I think we shot 19 percent from the three. If we struggle from the three, it’s going to be tough.”
The Stonewall Lady Longhorns didn’t have the trouble their male counterparts did and sent the Lady Tigers home with a 48-20 shellacking. Stonewall held Roff to just six points in the first half and although the Lady Tigers found a rhythm in the second half, it wasn’t enough to come back from a 34-6 deficit in the first half.
