Ada —  

Hard Rock Tournament

rescheduled for June 10

ADA — The Hardrock Tennis tournament was rained out on again on May 20 and has been rescheduled for June 10 at the Ada Tennis Center according to Ada Tennis Club officials.

Players need to report to the Ada Tennis Center (located on South Cradduck) by 1 p.m. for registration.

The tournament pairs experienced with less experienced players by a random draw. Each team will be guaranteed two matches.

Players need to bring rackets and one can of new tennis balls. Entry fee is $5 which also enrolls players in the Ada Tennis Club.

 

Vanoss to host softball

camp May 29-31

VANOSS — A Vanoss softball camp is scheduled for May 29-31 at Vanoss school.

The camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon daily, will be instructed by East Central University assistant coach Randy Crockett and players Shelby Simmons, Lauren Hayes and Kasey Barber.

Cost is $35 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt.

Ada summer tennis camp

kicks off next week

ADA — Ada High School will host the 2012 Cougar Summer Tennis Camp in a pair of one-week sessions beginning Tuesday, May 29, at the Ada Tennis Center.

Cost for the camp is $50 for one week or $80 for two weeks. The first session will run through Friday, June 1, and the second will begin on Monday, June 4, and run through Thursday, June 7.

The first session each day is for sixth grade and under and will run from 9-10:30 a.m.; the second, for seventh graders and up, will run from 10:30 a.m. through 12 noon.

A family plan is also available (two or more siblings) for $45 apiece.

Ada Boys Basketball

camp June 11-13

ADA — The 2012 Ada Boys Basketball offensive skills camp is scheduled for June 11-13 at the Cougar Activity Center.

The camp, open to kids entering grades K-12, will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily.

This camp will introduce and develop the fundamentals of offensive basketball with emphasis placed on shooting, ball handling, dribbling and passing

Roff baseball camp

scheduled for June 4-6

ROFF — Roff High School will host a baseball camp for boys ages 5 through 12 June 4-6 at Tiger Field.

Registration will be from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on Monday, June 4, with instruction by Roff coaches Ead Simon, Danny Baldridge and Jason Trimmer and from past and present Tiger players. Cost for the camp is $50 and includes a camp T-shirt.

Eccentric Duffer announces

2012 Summer Schedule

ADA — The Eccentric Duffer announces it’s 2012 Summer Schedule.

Weather permitting, the course opens at 8 a.m. and closes near dark.

Couples Scrambles are scheduled Mondays at 6 p.m. (beginning May 7); Men’s Scrambles are Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m.; and “Just for Fun” Women’s Scramble are Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

    The preliminary competitions for the 2013 Ada News All-Star Classic 3-point Shoot Out and Slam Dunk contests were literally seconds from coming to an end when Ada High sophomore Cory Kilby rushed to the scorer’s table inside Stonewall’s Murphy-Roberts Gymnasium and asked if it was too late for him to enter the fray.

  • Cougar Composers Cougars coach takes no chances

    At approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday the Ada Cougars headed up to the soccer field for practice. At 2:50 they headed back down the hill and to the safety of ‘The Dunham’ the huge indoor practice facility. Lightning had been recorded some 14 miles west and head coach Matt Weber was taking no chances.
