NOTEWORTHY: In a game which featured 22 three-pointers (11 by each team), Moss knocked off host Tupelo in the first round of the Tupelo Invitational. Moss had a 26-18 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 43-31 halftime lead. John Umstead and Chisum Henry paced the Tigers with 20 points each in a losing cause as Umstead buried six 3-pointers while Chisum Henry ended up with four. H.D. Bullard recorded a double-double for Tupelo with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Pirates got a game-high 24 points from Wyatt Jones, who also hit six treys.
Team Record: Tupelo 6-13.

NOTEWORTHY: A dismal second quarter proved costly for the Lady Bulldogs against Class 3A Lexington. Leading 10-8 heading into the second quarter, Stratford was outscored by a 25-9 margin before halftime as it trailed 33-19. The Lady Bulldogs did manage to cut it to 44-36 by the end of the third quarter, but was unable to get over the hump. Cheyenne Weast topped Stratford with 19 points, including one 3-pointer, and Caylee Fulp followed with 11 in a losing cause. Hannah Holasek poured in 24 points and Tia Parker contributed 19 to pace Lexington. The Lady Bulldogs nailed 18-of-20 free throws in the game while Lexington was 19-of-22.
COACH’S QUOTE: “The second quarter hurt us. In the fourth quarter we fought to cut it to about 8 or 6. We did a lot of good things. We never quit and kept after them,” said Stratford head coach Jason Fulks. “According to the scouting report, Lauren Davis was one of their top two scorers. We executed the game plan in limiting her to three points.”
