Tupelo's Maggia to play at ECU

Ada —

East Central University head baseball coach Dino Rosato has announced the signing of Tupelo High School standout Brandon Maggia to a national letter of intent for the 2013 season.

Maggia, a third baseman and first baseman, was part of eight state championship appearances (four fall and four spring) during his playing career for coach Clay Weller at Tupelo High.

On the field, Maggia had a near .400 batting average and was the team’s most valuable offensive player while earning Ada News All-Area accolades this past year.

“It’s an opportunity for me to play close to home,” said Maggia about signing ECU.

Maggia also excelled in the classroom as he was named Tupelo High School Student of the Month last September and was ultimately chosen as Student of the Year this past May.

He is undecided on his major.
