ECU gridiron seniors earn GAC Players of the Week honors

Ada —

East Central University football seniors Titus Mobley and Brian Gonzalez have both earned Great American Conference Player of the Week honors for Nov. 5 after the Tigers’ 33-30 win over Arkansas Tech (Nov. 3).

Mobley was named GAC Offensive Player of the Week and Gonzalez was named Special Teams Player of the Week, with both awards being the first of each player’s career.

Mobley had a career-best 233 yards rushing and 242 total yards, marking the first time the Clermont, Ark., native had a 200-yard game in his career and just the sixth in the GAC this season. He rushed for 233 of the team's 268 yards. Mobley set up the game-winning field goal with an 18-yard rush with seconds left in the game.  He had gained 100+ yards before the end of the first half and he helped the team to the best total offense yards of the season (493) and the second-best rushing offense total (268) on the year.

Gonzalez kicked the game-winning 27-yard field goal as time expired and gave the Tigers the 33-30 win. For the game, he hit both his field-goal attempts and as the ECU punter, he averaged 36.8 yards per punt with a long of 61 yards.

The Tigers will wrap up the 2012 regular-season at Norris Field, Saturday, Nov. 10 with a 2 p.m. kick-off against Southeastern Oklahoma State on the annual Senior Day.
