Latta —
The Latta Panthers took care of business early in their 52-38 win over Washington Tuesday night inside the Bill Johnson Field House.
Led by five-plus unbelievable minutes of basketball by senior Trent Storts, the Panthers raced to a quick 16-2 lead to start the game. Storts hit four straight free throws to start the run, got free for an easy point-blank shot on a well-executed inbounds play and ended the Latta surge with 3-point baskets on back-t0-back trips down the floor. The run resulted in a timeout called by Washington head coach Larry Johnston with 2:51 left in the opening period.
After that initial shock, to their credit, the visiting Warriors played Latta dead even the rest of the way — as both teams finished the game with 36 points apiece.
The Panthers saw their winning streak reach 11 straight and improved to 22-2 on the season, while Washington dropped to 10-12.
