Ada — An Ada man was charged Wednesday with aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of child pornography, following his arrest last week by members of the Pontotoc County District Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force.
Steven Stiles, 47, was in the Pontotoc County jail late Wednesday under a $100,000 bond after being arrested at his home on County Road 3540 where DTF agents Josh Dean and Heath Miller and Chris Crow of the Lighthorse Police had gone to serve him with a warrant out of Marshall County. After making contact with Stiles, agents noticed a number of items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in plain sight, and after being read his Miranda rights, Stiles admitted to manufacturing methamphetamine.
A search of the property turned up two plastic baggies containing a white, powdery substance, Coleman camp fuel, muriatic acid, empty packages that had contained cold medication, plastic tubing, coffee filters, empty packages that had held lithium batters, one gallon jar of caustic soda, and quart and pint jars containing a total of 45.8 ounces of clear liquid. Stiles stated the quart jar contained meth that he had yet to finish manufacturing while the pint jar contained a quantitiy of the drug that had already been “gassed off.”
