Coalgate —
Coal County Sheriff’s office is investigating what may be the first homicide in Coal County since Jan. 11, 2008.
Roy Deck, Coal County Sheriff, said his office received a phone call at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 2 from the daughter of Gary D. Hall, 50. According to the sheriff’s report, the caller said she had found her father lying in a pool of blood at his home in Phillips.
The victim had a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deck.
Also receiving a gunshot wound to the head was the victim’s wife, Kayla J. Hall, 47. She was found in a bedroom of the home and a weapon was found nearby. According to the report, officers believe the weapon to be involved in both shootings.
Mrs. Hall was transported by med-flight to a hospital. Her condition was not available at press time.
The case is under investigation by the Coal County Sheriff’s office and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
