Alert resident reports odd truck; pair busted for pot

Ada —

In what may have been a sign-of-the-times incident early Tuesday morning, an APD officer was summoned to an apartment on East 9th Street.

A red truck had been seen on several occasions parked at this same location for about 30 minutes each time in similar early morning hours.

Since the truck didn’t belong to anyone in the apartment complex, APD officer Kylor Pool was dispatched to the parking lot site, where he saw two young men sitting inside the red truck.

When he asked the apparent driver to roll down his window, he was greeted by “a thick cloud of heavy smoke hovering inside (the vehicle).”

That seemed easy enough to explain for the driver, Caleb Curtis, 18, from Atoka, and his passenger Henry Barnes.

Both told the officer they were smoking an electronic cigarette in the parking lot at 1:35 a.m.
