Two people were injured Sunday when a vehicle crashed into another vehicle and into an Ada restaurant.
The crash occurred at the Long John Silver’s restaurant located at the intersection of Arlington and Highland just before 6 p.m.
Ada police said 19-year-old Windi Clark of Wagoner was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche east on Arlington when she fell asleep and ran off the road to the left. The Avalanche crossed two westbound lanes, drove through a yard and crashed through a fence before slamming into a Chevrolet pickup stopped at the restaurant’s drive-thru.
The impact carried both vehicles into a wall of the restaurant. An employee of the eatery, 18-year-old Bethany Wade of Ada, was working the drive-thru and was injured by debris when the vehicles hit the wall.
Ada Police Officer Casey Northcutt said Wade had walked around a corner and was returning to the drive-thru window when the vehicles slammed the wall. Northcutt said if Wade had been in the drive-thru work area when the crash occurred, she may have been crushed.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, 55-year-old Carl Pennington of Ada, received a leg injury in the crash. Clark refused treatment at the scene. The restaurant worker was taken by Valley View EMS to Chickasaw Nation Medical Center to be treated for her injuries which included lacerations to her face and leg. Pennington was taken by private vehicle to be treated for his injury. Clark, a National Guard soldier, told police she had been at a military installation and was up all night doing maneuvers the previous evening and was headed home when she fell asleep.
