Four-laning SH 99 topic of meeting slated Friday

Ada — Secretary of Transportation Gary Ridley will host a public meeting Friday in Ada to discuss the potential expansion of state Highway 99.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Estep Center at East Central University.

Ridley and representatives from the Department of Transportation will be on hand to discuss Highway 99 and answer questions. Community and business leaders from around the region have been invited to attend, and anyone with an interest in the Highway 99 corridor is invited to participate.

In 2000, legislation was approved authorizing bond projects with the goal of ensuring every Oklahoma community with a population greater than 10,000 would have four-lane highway access to the interstate system. The plan included widening SH-99 from state Highway 39 to state Highway 59 between Ada and Seminole.
