Dynamic Woman of Year sought by Chickasaws

Ada —  

The Chickasaw Nation is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Dynamic Woman of the Year Award. All nominations and supporting documentation must be turned in to the Chickasaw Nation Division of Arts and Humanities by Sept. 10.

Established in 2006, the award honors Chickasaw women who have made significant contributions to the Nation, served as role models to other Chickasaw women and who have made a difference in the lives of Chickasaws and other citizens, enriching their communities and society at large.

    Kelly Law and other teachers marshaled students into the main hallway and central bathrooms at Plaza Towers Elementary School just before Monday’s tornado ripped apart the building with winds up to 200 mph.

  • Boat Full Wintersmith Lake hosts Chickasaw boaters

    A dragon boat, kayaks and canoes gracefully slid atop Wintersmith Lake in Ada during a special program hosted by the Chickasaw Nation Riversport Youth Canoe/Kayak League. This marked the first time in approximately 20 years such an event was conducted on the local lake.

  • ACT II takes applications for drama camp

    Ada Community Theatre (ACT II) is now taking applications for its summer Youth Drama Camp. The production will be “Montgomery Mansion”, a comical musical written by Vickie Reifsnider, Darice Strickland and Rudy Lupinski.  The camp receives funding assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
