Ada —
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) training is scheduled April 17-May 15. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. For more information, visit CASA office at 514 E. 10th Street or phone 580-332-1441.
Child advocates are appointed by judges to be the voice for abused and neglected children in court. Advocates get to know the children they serve and gather information from social workers, placement providers, parents, counselors, teachers, or anyone who might have knowledge regarding the child.
This information is given to the court to help determine what is best for the child. Potential volunteers are required to complete an in-depth screening interview, background check, and 30 hours of training and courtroom observation.
