Slain ECU student's funeral set

Killing suspect recalled as odd and as a loner

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today for murdered East Central University student Generro Sanchez. The service will be at the Harold Lasiter Gymnasium in Stuart, and interment will follow at White Chimney Cemetery in Stuart.

The well-liked 18-year-old freshman student had been held at gunpoint and then forced to drive to a location near state Highway 177 and state Highway 59, about five miles north of Asher.

According to an affidavit from lawmen in Pottawatomie County, a fellow ECU student from Asher, Jerrod Murray, 18, made Sanchez slow his truck down to about 10 miles per hour when he attempted to shoot Sanchez.
