‘Tis the season for Ada’s 2012 holiday parade

Ada — If you’re looking for a blast of Christmas spirit, you might want to check out Ada’s annual holiday parade.

The 2012 Pat Taylor Memorial Parade of Lights will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Main and Stockton streets, then head east to Hope Street. The parade is named for former Curiosity Shop owner Pat Taylor, who died in 2002.

This year’s theme is The Nutcracker, inspired by the famous Tchaikovsky ballet. The parade will include 50 to 60 floats, many of which will incorporate Christmas music, bright lights and nods to the Nutcracker theme.

The event is a great way to get into a holiday mood, said Jennifer Johnston, program manager for Ada Main Street.

“It’s a really fun event, and there’s always a really good crowd,” she said. “It kicks off the Christmas season and gets everyone in the Christmas spirit.”
