Ada woman to host meeting about AAU program

Ada —

The Ada resident would like to launch at least one more basketball team this year, but she needs to know how many kids are interested before she can begin.

Willie will host an informational meeting about the Amateur Athletic Union basketball program at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chickasaw Community Center, 700 N. Mississippi in Ada. The meeting is for boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade as well as their parents and potential volunteers and coaches.

The meeting is also open to coaches who have teams and are seeking AAU certification. AAU coaches and former players will be available to answer questions and explain the program.

Willie said she believes Ada players would enjoy having AAU-level teams in their community.

“We’re just starting this to bring another level of competition to the community,” she said. “I just think there’s a need in this area.”
