Councilmen to take oath, elect mayor

Ada —

Elections for Ada mayor and vice mayor will be held at a 12 p.m. city council meeting Monday.

Although the meeting will be held at noon, it will be conducted at Ada City Hall where meetings are usually held. An oath of office will be held for Shane Sweeney and Guy Sewell.

Sweeney was re-elected to Ward Two by a majority in March. Guy Sewell will represent Ward Four after incumbent councilman Matt Layton withdrew his name as a candidate. Since he was the only candidate to file for the post, Sewell won by default.

Other items on Monday’s agenda include discussion and action on acceptance of a CenterPoint Energy Community Partnership matching grant. Council will also discuss and take action on two permits for revocable telecommunications cable permits for Chickasaw telecommunications, Inc.

Council will discuss and take action on bids for precast concrete box culverts for two water crossings on south Mississippi to replace two condemned bridges.

An Ada Public Works Authority meeting will be held immediately following the conclusion of the council meeting. The authority will discuss and take action on approval of Ada Municipal Airport new construction private hangar lease agreement with Hoppe Aviation, LLC.
