With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a candlelight vigil will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Pontotoc County Courthouse Plaza, 13th and Broadway in Ada.
The vigil will feature the musical talents of recording artist Jenny Sims, along with speeches from Pontotoc County Associate District Judge Martha Kilgore and Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross. A domestic violence survivor is also scheduled to speak.
The event is sponsored by CIRCAW (Campus Initiative to Reduce Crime Against Women)-East Central University, Family Crisis Center, the Chickasaw Nation Office of Violence Prevention and Behavioral Health and the Pontotoc County District Attorney’s Office .
