A report of a plane in jeopardy had emergency personnel scrambling to find a possible plane crash Thursday.
Seminole County law enforcement notified Pontotoc County Central Dispatch of the call just after 1 p.m. A caller reported seeing a large military plane with all its engines smoking flying about 25 feet above the ground just northeast of Konawa heading southeast.
Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies, firefighters from Byng and Ada, Seminole County law enforcement and emergency personnel and Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the county line area for a large-scale search.
Planes and helicopters were dispatched, but no crash site was found. At 2:15 p.m., law enforcement was notified all military planes were accounted for.
