Vandals spray paint Francis businesses

Francis —

Several businesses were the targets of vandalism in Francis.

Residents awoke to see several buildings, signs and other structures vandalized with graffiti.

“The post office and several other buildings were ‘tagged’ with graffiti spray paint,” Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Heath said in a report. “It appeared to be initials painted on the buildings. I photographed all paint and made contact with several victims.”

The post office was hit particularly hard as it had several areas spray painted. One Francis resident said she heard kids shooting off fireworks around 11 p.m.

Authorities suspect they may also have been the ones with the paint. Sheriff John Christian said the matter is under investigation and anyone with information can phone the sheriff’s office at 580-332-4169.
