Ada —
A fallen Oklahoma Gas and Electric transmission line caused a power outage Wednesday for more than 5,000 customers in the area.
Three People’s Electric Cooperative substations lost power at about 8 a.m. because an OG & E transmission line was down, said Monica Neal, senior vice president for corporate services for PEC. The outage affected about 2,800 PEC customers in the area from Ada to Sasakwa.
PEC switched to another substation served by a different transmission line, and the utility had completely restored power to its customers by 10 a.m., Neal said.
Penny Seale, senior communications specialist with OG & E, said a crossarm broke on one of the utility’s transmission lines, causing it to fall. The fallen line triggered an outage that affected about 2,400 OG & E customers.
