Election could play role in rezoning debate

Ada — The Pontotoc County Commission may be asked to reconsider its decision to deny a rezoning request for a school bus maintenance and auto repair shop.

That will depend on the results of the Aug. 28 runoff election in which Commissioner Danny Davis and newcomer Randy Floyd are competing for the 2nd District seat on the commission.

Floyd said Monday he knows where the property is located but does not know why the commission denied owner Nathan Dial’s rezoning request. He added that he has discussed the rezoning request with Dial who asked him to look at the issue with an open mind if he is elected.

Floyd said if he wins the commission seat, he would have to review all the information about the issue before making up his mind.
