Stonewall —
A Stonewall man charged with lewd molestation and rape by instrument has entered a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office, Stonewall Police Chief Jason Teel said.
Jerry Shelton’s plea of "no contest" means he must serve 85 percent of his sentence behind bars. Shelton, 40, was arrested in June and has been in the Pontotoc County Jail since that time, Teel stated.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The suspect was jailed after the victim filed an affidavit and friends of the victim corroborated the information, officials said.
Shelton denied any inappropriate behavior at the time of his arrest.
