Letter to the Editor

Ada —

Editor, The Ada News:

Pontotoc County residents write wondering what money is available so our county commissioners can develop a budget.

Our county officials have been trained how to develop a budget. I have sat in on various commissioner meetings where the budget was discussed and determined, payroll, services rendered and many other items of business. Expenditures are shared equally among the three Pontotoc County districts, for salaries of county employees, up keep of the courthouse and other properties.

Each one of us should be able to develop a yearly budget for our family.

Mayors of cities or towns they service, county commissioners for the county they serve as an elected official and the governor, senators and representatives of the state of Oklahoma are also responsible for budgeting for the new year to come.

Sen. (Susan) Padduck, Rep. Paul Roan and Rep. Wes Hilliard have been at the state capitol working for funds, grants and other money sources for Pontotoc County these past two years. These people deserve a big “thank you” from the Pontotoc County residents. Call or email them and express your appreciation for their service.

A big thank you also needs to be given to the Chickasaw Nation and Gov. (Bill) Anoatubby for helping with road and bridge cost of constructing and repair in Pontotoc County.
