Carolyn Pittman receives top award at state OHCE meeting

Ada — ADA — Members of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education group attended their annual state meeting recently at Oklahoma City.

During the meeting a number of club members were recognized for their achievements. Pontotoc County OHCE member Carolynn Pittman received top honor as Heart of OHCE Member of the Year.

The Heart of OHCE is  awarded to an outstanding member who has promoted family values in the areas of education, moral values and responsibility and spends numerous hours volunteering in the community. The member has also shown outstanding leadership in environmental activism and educational programs.

Carolynn Pittman emulates in all these areas making her an outstanding choice for Oklahoma Home and Community Education State Heart of OHCE member of 2012.

  • Boat Full Wintersmith Lake hosts Chickasaw boaters

    A dragon boat, kayaks and canoes gracefully slid atop Wintersmith Lake in Ada during a special program hosted by the Chickasaw Nation Riversport Youth Canoe/Kayak League. This marked the first time in approximately 20 years such an event was conducted on the local lake.

  • ACT II takes applications for drama camp

    Ada Community Theatre (ACT II) is now taking applications for its summer Youth Drama Camp. The production will be “Montgomery Mansion”, a comical musical written by Vickie Reifsnider, Darice Strickland and Rudy Lupinski.  The camp receives funding assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
