Shaylyn Cox finalist in state pageant

Ada —  

Shaylyn Destiny Cox, 7-year-old daughter of Trisha and Chris Cox, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Oklahoma Pageant to be held June 7-8 at Southern Hills Marriott in Tulsa. 

The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 and have five different age divisions. Shaylyn will be participating in the Junior Pre-Teen age division, along with other outstanding young ladies from across Oklahoma.

Shaylyn’s activities include dress up, tea parties, playing with her friends and spending time with her family. She also enjoys going to the zoo, school and parks.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California where she will receive a complimentary tour of Hollywood and two V.I.P. tickets to Disneyland.

  • Boat Full Wintersmith Lake hosts Chickasaw boaters

    A dragon boat, kayaks and canoes gracefully slid atop Wintersmith Lake in Ada during a special program hosted by the Chickasaw Nation Riversport Youth Canoe/Kayak League. This marked the first time in approximately 20 years such an event was conducted on the local lake.

  • ACT II takes applications for drama camp

    Ada Community Theatre (ACT II) is now taking applications for its summer Youth Drama Camp. The production will be “Montgomery Mansion”, a comical musical written by Vickie Reifsnider, Darice Strickland and Rudy Lupinski.  The camp receives funding assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
