David D. Jackson Jr. was promoted to the rank senior master sergeant Dec. 1, 2011, in the Minnesota Air National guard.
Senior Master Sgt. David D. Jackson Jr. is the son of David and Jodi Jackson, Ada, Okla., and brother of Donna Rodebush and Dennis Jackson.
Jackson has been married to his wife Dawn for 27 years and they have five children, Kassie, Jamie, Kaitlyn, Jessica and Jeremiah. Jackson and family currently live in Solon Springs, Wis.
Jackson is employed at the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard, Duluth, Minn., as an AGR in the Maintenance Operations Center. He is the Senior Maintenance Operations Controller and monitors and coordinates sortie production, maintenance production, and execution of the flying and maintenance schedules while maintaining visibility of fleet health indicators. He ensures all deviations to the daily flying schedule are reviewed and accurately reported IAW Lead Command directives and Coordinates maintenance on the alert force. Jackson acts as Emergency Management Representative for the Maintenance Group Commander by ensuring the MXG is complying with the rules, regulations and instructions given by Higher Headquarters (HHQ).
Jackson started his career in the military in 1977 by enlisting in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. After completing Basic Military Training (BMT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) he returned home to Ada. In January 1979, Jackson enlisted in the U.S. Navy, after completing BMT (no waiver for Army BMT) he attended Aviation Ordananceman School at NAS, Millington, Tenn.
Jackson was first assigned to NAS Cubi Point Philippines for 18 months then on to VP-9 NAS Moffett Field, California, where he was assigned as an Aircrewman on the P-3c Orion, accumulating more than 1400 hours of in-flight mission time.
In 1985, Jackson joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard as a fulltime dual status employee with the 138th F/W in Tulsa. He served as an Armament Systems Technician until 1989 then as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist until 1999. In 2000, Jackson joined the 148th F/W Detachment at Tyndall AFB, Florida, as an Armament Systems Technician and Senior alert crew chief in the AGR program. When the detachment was closed in 2003, Jackson, his wife and children moved to Duluth, Minn., to continue working for the 148th F/W.
Jackson has worked on the P-3c, A-7, blocks 10, 15, 25, 30, 42, 50 F-16’s and holds seven level AFSC’s in Armament Systems and Tactical Aircraft Maintenance as well as an FAA A&P certification.
