Home Depot team treats Ada veteran to ‘new’ home

Ada —

A small group of people stood in front of Tonja Millberry’s home Wednesday night, waiting for the Ada woman to return from her visit to Texas.

A team of about 30 volunteers from Home Depot had spent the past six days installing new floors, refurbishing the kitchen and performing other home improvement tasks.

Now, the group was waiting for Tonja to see the results.

Tonja pulled into her driveway at about 6:30 p.m. and greeted the people who stood in the front yard. After hugging the volunteers and praising the landscaping improvements, she entered the house.

Tonja and her daughter, Cyrenea Millberry, wandered from room to room to see the transformation. As they toured the house, they exclaimed in delight over each improvement and thanked the volunteers.

“Everything is just so beautiful,” Tonja said. “This is a model home.”
