Green named BPW Woman of the Year

Ada Business and Professional Women named Mary Jo Green as its 2012 Woman of the Year during National Business Women's Week Oct. 22-26.

Green received the award during a luncheon celebration at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club.

Presenting the award was Cheryl Yott, 2011-2012 Ada BPW Woman of the Year.

Green has been a member of Ada BPW since 1967.

Receiving Employer of the Year award was Barbara King, United King Realty. Presenting the award was Debbie Hallum.

 

Fine Arts

Fine Arts Department of Tanti Study Club gathered at the rustic, country cabin of Wendell and Treva Gurley Oct. 9. Attending were Jane Adair, Aggie Allen, Betty Binkley, Pat Bonar, Carol Davis, Sammy Edwards, Myra Glance, Paula Green, Rosa Hendrix, Sandra Ingram, Bryna Lane, Delores Moore, Norma Underhill, Martha Wigdor and hostessess Treva Gurley and Z.D. Parker.

Adair gave the program on Starr-Brand babies and her home town of Drumright.

Starr-Brand babies were delivered by Dr. Orange W. Starr of Drumright. Adair was one of more than 2,800 babies delivered to Drumright area families. A file of these babies is housed in the Drumright Museum. 

Dr. Starr sent birthday cards to each of his Starr-Brand babies on his or her birthday. He wrote some of the cards in the Cherokee language.
