Southwestern Oklahoma State placed five players in double figures and shot 59.7 percent from the floor in rolling to a 93-55 Great American Conference victory over the visiting East Central University Lady Tigers Monday night.
The league-leading Bulldogs shot 63.3 percent from the field in the first half and held a 48-34 rebounding advantage on the night in improving to 11-5 on the season and 5-1 in the GAC.
ECU, which fell to 4-13 and 2-5, was held to 31 percent shooting from the floor and managed to convert only 7-of-15 free throws (46.7 percent).
The only double-figure scorer for the Lady Tigers was sophomore guard Alex Tucker with 11 off the bench. Freshman Erin Walling and junior Fanta Toure were next with eight points apiece in reserve roles.
Darcie Dick fired in a game-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field to go with 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Bulldog attack.
MaRiah Oyler and SaRaya Oyler finished with 14 and 13 points respectively for SWOSU while Michelle Fisher and TaNita Dewberry chipped in 11 apiece.
The Bulldogs shot 46.2 percent from 3-point territory for the game as MaRiah Oyler was a perfect 4-of-4 from outside the arc while Fisher sank 3-of-6 from long range.
Freshman Dilan Webster was ECU’s top rebounder with eight to go with six points. Toure snatched seven boards. Ironically, the Lady Tigers had more offensive rebounds than defensive (18-16).
Outside of an early 2-0 ECU advantage and a 5-all tie, SWOSU led from start to finish.
Leading 12-10, the Bulldogs broke the game open with a 12-3 run to go up 24-13 with 11:47 remaining in the half. SWOSU went on to build a 50-34 halftime cushion.
The Lady Tigers’ next action is Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. GAC clash at Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant.
