Sherman, TX —
The East Central University women's soccer team finished the regular season by playing its fourth-straight overtime game, earning a scoreless double-overtime draw at Austin College.
“We came out and took control from the start,” said head coach Riley Bailey. “But we still lack someone stepping up and finishing our changes. Austin College fought hard and gave us some trouble, but in the end it came down to not putting away our opportunities and we walked away with the tie.”
Freshman goaltender Hunter Malcolm recorded five saves for the Tigers (4-10-4, 4-4-2 GAC). Junior Ashley Branford led the offensive charge with four of ECU’s 11 shots on goal.
The Lady Tigers tallied a total of 31 shots in the match and allowed the Roos (5-11-2) to garner just 10.
ECU will now get ready for the Great American Conference Championships, which it enters as the No. 2 seed. The Lady Tigers will first face Ouachita Baptist on Friday, Nov. 2, at SWOSU soccer field in Weatherford. Top-seeded Southwestern Oklahoma State will face No. 4 Harding as the other opening-round matchup.
