ECU athlete arrested on drug complaint

Ada —

A star East Central University (ECU) football player was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling drugs, according to police.

Armonty Bryant, 22, was arrested on suspicion of felonious distribution of marijuana within 2,000 feet of a school after he allegedly sold the drug to an undercover operative on two separate occasions, according to the Ada Police Department Narcotics Squad.

Police indicate in court records that Bryant sold $20 worth of marijuana to the operative Sept. 12, 2012, and the same amount again Sept. 13, 2012, both times in a parking lot at ECU.

Bryant was arrested at ECU football practice Monday afternoon. He posted $25,000 bail and was released from Pontotoc County Justice Center Tuesday at 1 a.m.
