East Central University's 2012 Distinguished Alumnus David Porter will address spring and summer graduates and their families at both the 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. commencement ceremonies Saturday in the Kerr Activities Center.

Dr. Robert Greenstreet, professor of communication studies and director of forensics at East Central University, has been honored by the Central States Communication Association Argumentation and Forensics Interest Group for his work as a professional director of forensics and communication scholar.

Singing ChurchWomen (SCW) of Oklahoma will perform Thursday, April 26 at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Center. The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Alan Marcum, executive vice president for administration at Devon Energy, will be one of the executives advising high school students selected for a one-of-a-kind Oklahoma Business Week summer camp July 8-13 at ECU in Ada. Marcum is a graduate of ECU.

ECU singers set show at Catholic church
The East Central University Singers will perform portions of Franz Schubert’s Mass in E flat (No. 6), and the select University Chorale will perform selections from its spring tour at 7:30 p.m. Monday in a concert at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A famous Islamic citadel and palace constructed during the 14th century, now one of Spain’s major tourist attractions, will be the topic of the first-ever Lockmiller Lecture in Art History at East Central University.

ECU students to visit Cox School of Business
East Central University business students and Dean Wendell Godwin will visit Southern Methodist University’s Edwin L. Cox School of Business May 16 as guests of Steven Denson (ECU ‘91, Carnegie Mellon ‘93). This will be the second year that Dean Godwin and ECU have made such a visit to the Cox School. This collaboration came about as Dean Godwin is an alumn of the Executive MBA Program of the Cox School, where Denson, an ECU alum and Chickasaw Nation citizen, teaches and works with outreach.

ECU symphonic band, wind ensemble to perform April 17
Rhythm and blues, jazz, Norwegian folk melodies, a march and even a duel between a euphonium and wind band will be on the program Tuesday, April 17, for East Central University’s spring band concert.
