Ada —

A special meeting is scheduled Thursday that may result in the termination of Ada City Manager David Hathcoat.

The city council will meet at 5:45 p.m. and go into “executive session for the purpose of discussing the employment of the Ada City Manager.”

An open session will continue with “discussion of and action on beginning removal of Ada City Manager by giving him a written statement of the reason for removal,” the agenda states

Next on the agenda is “discussion of action on suspension of Ada City Manager.”

The last item is discussion of and action of employment of interim/acting city manager, the meeting agenda states.

Hathcoat has been city manager more than 13 years. About a year ago it was discovered Hathcoat was gambling at a tribal casino during normal office hours. City officials were poised to terminate him then, but Hathcoat successfully argued his “normal business hours” meant late nights and weekends and it would be difficult to assign a set of hours he normally would work.
