• Ada Vet Clinic is conducting a rabies clinic from 9-11.30 a.m. and 1:30-5 p.m. Cost is $8  per animal.

• Animal Medical Center is conducting a rabies clinic from 8 a.m. until noon and 1:30-5 p.m.

• Arlington Animal Clinci is conducting a rabies clinic from 9 a.m until 5 p.m.

• Latta School’s Indian Educaiton parent Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. in Room 111 at Latta Junior High School. Business meetings willb e conducted for JOM and Title VII programs. The meeting is open to all parents of JOM and Title VII students.

• Toastmaster’s Speaking Club meets  in Room 311, Pontotoc Tech Center, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. Improving  speaking skills will allow individuals to enhance their abilities and increase chances for job promotion. For more information email: marilynnadaok@gmail.com, or call 580-235-3190. 

 • The Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Cradduck Rd., Ada. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 580-332-6506.

• A dance is conducted each Wednesday at Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. Cost is $6 per person and is open to all ages.

• The 2012 Pontotoc County Quilt Show takes place at the Pontotoc County Agri-plex.

• Al Anon meets at 8 p.m. each Friday at St. Lukes Episcopal Church. 

 

SATURDAY

APRIL 28, 2012

• The 2012 Pontotoc County Quilt Show takes place at the Pontotoc County Agri-plex. 

• Stonewall conducts a volunteer workday from 9 a.m. until to 2 p.m. The work will focus on painting the facades of buildings on Main Street.  State Sen. Susan Paddack is expected to be there along with U.S. Rep. Tom Cole’s field representative, Amber Savage.  Volunteers are asked to bring painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, roller extensions, ladders, paint trays and buckets.  Phone Stonewall City Hall at 265-4511 with any questions. 

•Technisand’s Third Annual Coed Slowpitch Softball Tournement is April 28-29 at Roff City Park Ballfield. All proceeds will benefit the Pontotoc County Red Cross. Entry fee is $100 per team and is due when first game is played. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded and teams must provide their own balls. Concession is available. For more information or to enter, phone Cindy at Technisand at 580-456-7791, extension 8712 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Leave a message if no one is available.

• Balancing food and play, fun, games and folly takes place from 2-3 p.m. at Harris Park in Hammond Heights. In case of rain, events will be moved to The Church of God in Christ at 3015 N. Townsend Hammond Heights. This is a time of play for children and their families.

• Byng School’s Indian Education Parent Committee hosts a Recognition Assembly at 2 p.m. in the Byng High School Auditorium. The assembly is followed by a reception in the high school student center. Recognitions will include all Johnson O’Malley students in attendance, Outstanding Students from Francis, Homer, Byng Elementary, Byng Junior High, and Byng High School. The event is open to all Johnson O’Malley students and their parents.

• TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, a support weight loss group, meets at 8:30 a.m. each Monday at Irving Community Center, second floor. For more information, phone 580-399-6731.

• Ada Kiwanis Club meets each Monday at 12 noon in the Aldridge Ballroom, 12th and Broadway, for buffet lunch and a short program. Kiwanis is a service club whose motto is “Young Children, Priority One.” Kiwanians serve the  community in ways that primarily benefit children, including the operation of the Kiwanis Ball Park and assisting with the Wintersmith Kiddie Park. • The Peach Town Opry, a music show and open mic night, is hosted at 7 p.m. the first Saturday of each month at Stratford American Legion Building located just north of the 4-way stop on US Highway 177 in Stratford. • Rabies clinics will be held at Oil Center Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Vanoss School from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and at Roff Fire Department from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Anyone having an interest in the VFW, any veteran, and especially those who have earned a campaign medal through participation in combat are encouraged to attend. The Post also operates a Veterans Service Office at 701 N. Broadway in Ada.
