Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Green are celebrating 60 years of marriage Nov. 19, 2011. A reception is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. at Chickasaw Community Building with their children Jess Green and Melissa Wilkerson; and grandchildren, Judd Green, Destiny Green and Keisha Sweeney-Factor.
J.L. Green and Mary Jo Thomas were married Nov. 17, 1951, on J.L.’s 25th brithday at the home of Paul Stevens, then pastor of Ada First Baptist Church. The wedding party included Betty Lionberger, matron of honor, Nathan Green, best man, and guests Bill Lionberger, Delora Young, Anita Green, Billy Joe Green and Winona McDonald.
The couple established their home south of Fittstown on the Theo Cash Ranch, where Green was employed. They acquired ownership of the ranch in 1987.
He retired from ranching in October 2000 and she retired from the Chickasaw Nation after 23 years. She is currently serving her fifth term as Chickasaw Nation Legislator for Pontotoc District Seat 5.
The couple requests no gifts.
