Elzie and JoAnn Priest, Ada, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception Aug. 1 at Morris Memorial Baptist Church. Hosts for the event were Mike and Gail Priest, Mitch and Glenda Priest, Melvin and Kimberly Burris.
Elzie Priest and JoAnn Taylor were married Aug. 5, 1950, at Holdenville First Baptist Church parsonage.
In the years since their wedding, Elzie has been a butcher for IGA grocery, employed by Ford Motor Company in Wetumka, Ford Manufacturing in Richmond, Calif., Union Oil 76 in Rodeo,Calif., Forrester Butane and Appliances in Holdenville, Adams Music and Appliances in Holdenville. He was frozen food manager for Put-n-Take Markets in Phoenix, Ariz., frozen food broker for Pullen and Eggleston Food Brokerage and Frigid Fruit Company in Phoenix, Ariz. For the last 13 years before his retirement, Elzie was employed by Petrolon Inc. in Houston, Texas.
JoAnn was food demonstrator for Rosarita Mexican Food Company and Oscar Mayer Food Company in Phoenix, Ariz. She also worked as a clerk for Hallmark stores during the holidays in Ada. Most of her time has been spent being a homemaker, mother and grandmother.
The Priests have been members of Morris Memorial Baptist Church for the past 44 years. They have met at Martin's Meat-n-Moore with their coffee club for the past six years and Elzie has played with the same Domino group for the past 13 years.
The couple's children include Mike Priest, Mitch Priest and Kimberly Burris. Their grandchildren are Justin Priest and his wife Tana of Fitzhugh, Kandyce Davis of Ada, Michael Daniel and his wife Stacie of Mannsville, Kristina Hogan and her husband Micah of Ardmore, Kourtney Priest of Fort Collins, Colo., Kayla, Jacob, John-Wayne, Kora and Josh Priest all of Ada, Cody Priest and his wife Tara of Ada, Keisha Lee and her husband Nico of Colagate, Colton Priest of Warner, Michael Frederickson and his wife Christy of Sasakwa, Amanda Mericle and her hsuband Matt of Ada, Adam Burris and his wife April of Allen, Josh Burris of Stonewall, Kirsten and Khloé Kimbrell of Roff.
The Priests' great-grandchildren are Conner Priest, Fitzhugh, Zac Byrd, Ada, Kaitlyn and Kymber Davis, Ada, Bryer Lee, Coalgate, Taylor Boolen, Ada, and Lauren Frederickson, Sasakwa.
