NOTEWORTHY: The host Ada Cougars finished with a team score of 301, good enough for fifth place in the always-tough Tournament of Champions held Monday at the Oak Hills Golf Course. Wyatt Robson carded a 73, just missing out on a Top 5 finish in the medalist race. Justin Powell followed with a 77 while Kyle Rodrigues also stayed below 80 with a 79. Jenks stormed to the 2012 Tournament of Champions team tile with a 278. Heritage Hall was next at 285 while Edmond North and Plainview rounded out the top four at 288 and 294, respectively.

COACHES COMMENTS: “I was pretty happy with the way we played today. This is always a very tough tournament, because we always invite some of the best golf teams in the state, from all classes. I know my kids are always going to be nervous, because we get a large number of spectators that come out and watch us play. It is always great to have the support, but a little bit nerve racking at the same time. This was very good experience for us for later in the year. Our finishing fifth was disappointing to the kids, but I felt like it was pretty good.” — Ada head coach Robbie Powell.
